Wildcats Win Four Medals on Final Day of SEC Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats track and field team concluded the 2025 SEC Outdoor Championships today, as well as their final home meet of the season, crowning four medalists on championship Saturday.

As a team, the Wildcats placed eighth on the women’s side, earning 52.5 points, headlined by Janet Jepkemboi Amimo’s silver medal in the women’s 800m. The men’s team finished 13th with a total of 24 points, along with one gold medal and one silver medal.

UK totaled six medals across the three-day championship meet, including Kate Powers winning bronze in the women’s hammer throw final on Thursday and Collins Kiprop Kipngok breaking the SEC Championship meet record to win gold in the men’s 3000m steeplechase on Friday.

Today, Kentucky was awarded four more SEC medalists, starting with Jepkemboi Amimo earning her first career medal in the women’s 1500m final, taking silver with a time of 4:20.59. Payton Phillips was the second Wildcat to earn a medal this evening, her second medal of the 2025 season, previously claiming bronze at the SEC Indoor Championships, winning bronze in the women’s pole vault event with a 4.26m/13-11.75 mark. Luke Brown was the third medalist of the day for the Cats, taking silver in the men’s triple jump final with a season-best 16.33m/53-7 mark. The women’s 4x400m relay team closed out the championships with a third-place finish in their final event, earning a bronze medal and a 3:28.78 time.

Across all three days, Kentucky totaled 15 event scorers in 13 different competitions. Among today’s results, outside of the four medalists, nine Wildcats earned points in their respective events, including both the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams, Emmi Scales and Alexis Glasco in the women’s 100m hurdles and Jenna Schwinghamer in the women’s 800m.

With the finale of the SEC Outdoor Championships now in the rearview mirror, the Wildcats will have a week off before they begin preparation for the NCAA East First Round prelims on May 28-31 in Jacksonville, Fla.
